"I was just wondering if this is the beginning of the airlines becoming like Amtrak"

Hopefully not. I have been disgusted with our airlines (except Southwest) for quite some time. They base their pricing policies on the customer's situation instead of figuring what it costs to run their businesses and then adding in some profits. Nothing wrong with variable pricing, but when one guy (the business guy) travels to Chicago for $2,000+ sits next to another that is going for $200, someone is getting screwed. Being a small business owner, I don't like getting screwed.

Southwest has the lowest fares, the best safety record, the best on time performance, the friendliest employees, AND the have made money for every one of their 30+ years except the very 1st year they went into business.

Awesome company. Awesome management. I wish more U.S. businesses would take a look at their model. It is a win-win proposition.
