....Yes Jerry, that's what I've been telling you all along: It's impractical to write applications in Java at this time. As a language, Java is supposedly better than C++ (so I've read/heard--I have no basis of judgement). That's sort of what Bill Gates was alluding to when he said that Java is just a language, not a platform or the Holy Grail. As soon as the performance issues are solved (who knows how long that will take), Java should replace C++ as the primary programming language. But what I'm talking about here is Java as a programming language, not a platform. Sal
