We won't be in a Japanese style permanent recession because we don't have gangsters holding onto property and winked at by politicians. The same gangsters have been known to shoot bank executives who wanted their bank's money back. I've asked many ordinary Japanese people "Why doesn't the government arrest the gangsters?" They embarrassedly say they don't know. The answer is that politicians are allied with the gangsters as used to be the situation in Italy. I may sound like some writer in a tabloid but sadly it is true.
