My goodness, E, I guess I gave you a purpose this evening.

About all I can say in reply is, "You had to be there." I'm not aware of any organized effort to rationalize the internment. All I ever see are condemnations, growing increasingly more strident as time passes. Perhaps as each year goes by, and the war fades ever more distantly into the past, the perceived threat posed by Japanese-Americans appears ever more ludicrous. Of course, after the war ended, it soon became clear that the nation of Japan totally lacked the capacity to orchestrate a campaign of infiltration and sabotage on our soil.

But we did not know that at the time. You and I live in a great country, and I truly feel that our time can be better served than by perseverating over instances in the past wherein our leaders may have made incorrect choices. I for one believe that in this case the motivation was honorable, if misguided. To say that the reason was "politics" is highly ambiguous. I would take that to mean that it was felt to reflect the will of the people, which is not all that bad of a thing in a democracy, is it?

Sorry if my opinion has caused you distress.
