Re: Knowing Intel's and Microsoft's relationship Microsoft loves AMD. AMD brought box prices down by about $1000 when it introduced competition to the PC CPU market. However bad sales are now, they'd be a lot worse if PC's were selling for $1,500 to $3,000 instead of $500 to $2,000. Microsoft makes the same amount whether the box sells for $500 or $2,500. Athlon 4 and Athlon MP special instructions are all integrated into Windows XP. Microsoft loves AMD.
