BSTI - BioShield Signs $35 Million Contract; 80% Gross Margins Expected on
Agreement Contract Calls for Minimum $2.5 Million in the First Year With
Required 50% Increases Each Year for the Next 5 Years

ATLANTA, Oct 4, 2001 /PRNewswire via COMTEX/ -- BioShield Technologies, Inc.
(OTC Bulletin Board: BSTI) announced today the signing of a licensing and
distribution agreement with an International firm that calls for payments to
BioShield in the amount of $35 million over a seven year period. BioShield
management believes gross margins will reach 80% on this agreement and fully
believes the customer will exceed the minimum purchase requirements in this
agreement. The customer has requested its name not be released at this time in
connection with this agreement in order to keep their competition from gaining
insight on upcoming marketing strategies. Full details will be applied in our
next 10-Q.

Management further stated, "This is the first of several licensing and
distribution agreements in which BioShield currently is in final negotiations.
The sheer size of the demand for a safe and effective antimicrobial is becoming
quite apparent when we discover the leverage we have in these negotiations.
Management has every intention of maximizing the strength of owning the
proprietary-patented rights to, what we feel, is the most effective
antimicrobial product to hit the market."

BioShield's products can be incorporated into the manufacture of a wide variety
of materials, providing extended life and usefulness to many products. Some of

conditioners, and air purification devices, appliances, garbage cans; Bathroom
surfaces including formica, glazed porcelain, vinyl, enamel and plastic; Bed
sheets, blankets, and bedspreads; Carpets and draperies; Concrete additive for
sewer pipes, manholes, and concrete sewer structures (not to be used in

About BioShield's technology:

BioShield began receiving patents for its multiple technologies in 1999, under
U.S. Pat. 5,954,869. In September 2000, two additional patents, U.S. Pat. Nos.
6120587 and 6113815, were issued. Other patents, from several countries in
Europe and in New Zealand, are pending. Using a proprietary stabilizer with the
active ingredient, BioShield's AM500 antimicrobial delivers all the traditional
benefits associated with organosilane -- but with none of the associated
hazards. BioShield's proprietary technology is a durable antimicrobial that
protects from microbial deterioration and viral contaminants. At the same time,
BioShield's technology is safer to handle than conventional antimicrobials-based
additives, it doesn't require special equipment, and readily delivers
silane-to-surface bonds from water-stable, powders and non-water solutions. The
BioShield patents covering their technology can be viewed online at:
delphion.com by either conducting a search on the name BioShield or
entering the number of the patent: US06113815, US05954869 or US06120587.

Recent Developments:

BioShield Technologies, Inc. (BSTI) announced that it intends to spin-off to its
stockholders and on a 1 for 10 basis, a portion of those shares owned by
Healthcare Network Solutions, Inc. (HNS).
