OT - The way to eliminate the root causes of the problem is to help countries create an economy. Our politicians of both parties are not particularly helpful. Democrats want so many restrictions put on foreign produce that they cannot compete in developed markets. Many Republicans will support anti-trade policies on the protective side. We should not only help with traditional aid to Afghanistan, which we are doing in a big way, but become very involved in their education system. A particular emphasis needs to be placed on the education of women. I saw on CNBC that half their doctors are women who now are not permitted to practice by the Taliban.
