"I don't claim or believe that my view is absolute and eternal truth. Even though I think it should be"
LOL, why do you think it should be? Are you saying your beliefs are divorced from thinking? If you don't think your beliefs are true why do you believe them?
So reference to time and not the bible will yield an absolute? Who died and left the judgement to history? I'm glad that makes you somehow, feel better, but it does nothing to solve your dilemma. What if in eight hundred years the decision is reversed yet again? Who cares? the truth is that you have nothing but your own visceral feelings on which to base your judgements.
Feelings....... Nothing more than Feeeeeeeliiiinnngggs Trying to forgeeeeet my... Feelings OOoof LOOOOOOVE.
What happened to Logic? what happened to reason? Will singing silly songs help? I don't see how. This is not a Monty Python sketch, this is the real world. If Hitler had won the war, he would still be evil today, as he was yesterday, and as he will be tomorrow, and eight million years in the future. You know that's true in your Gut, but your philosophy is unable to account for it, and if you were honest, you would admit that your philosophy not only, can't account for it, but it outright contradicts it. You just don't want to go there. The categories of right and wrong should not even exist, but there they are. One of the main tests for any philosophy besides internal consistency, should be, "can you live it out?". I would say you have at least two strikes against yours. |
