Doug,

This morning Prez Bush said something which I greatly appreciate and wholeheartedly endorse.

A lot of folks who were blinded by rage and tears in the preceding weeks will do well to heed Bush latest words that out of the 9/11 tragedy good will emerge and that there is a need for America to re-examine its culture and values in relation to the rest of the world. Was Bush influenced by the likes of the Dalai Lama and may be Chretien?

He also announced that more humanitarian aid would be given to the refugees and people of war-torn and impoverished Afghanistan and he assured the Afghanis that America is not at war with them but only with the Taliban and their supporters.

To be sure, Bush's words represent a radical departure from the self-righteous stand and jingoism adopted in the preceding weeks -- that America was on a crusade and a-seeking/dispensing infinite justice. To some, Bush's words may be construed as something akin to an apology. But to many others, great good will redound to the USA. IMHO, America's chances of winning will be greatly increased if indeed changes do occur. Otherwise Bush was merely talking the talk (as any politician is capable of or expected to) and America is not walking the walk.

The Big Mama or Bell(e)wether or Alpha Wolf or Bitchy Crone who was so fond of exhorting others to heed Bush's earlier words, "Either you are with us or you are not......there's no middle ground..." will now do well to change her tune to "Listen! Bush hath spoken, 'Great Good Shalt Emerge from the 9/11 tragedy.' O' yea, we need to veer away from our path of prejudice, hatred, intolerance, bigotry and self-righteousness and unmitigating arrogance and cockiness, greed and avariciousness. 9/11 was a wake-up call not only for vigilance for our personal safety but for how we are perceived by others in the world at large. O' yea, we have to be beautiful! Lo and behold: a sign hath come! We need to be reborn for the millennium!!! For hath Christ not spoken that unless that we are reborn as little children we shalt not enter the Kingdom of Heaven? Yea, let us also forsake gold, greed and avariciousness and let us not covet our neighbors' goods and spouses! For hath the Lord not spoken, ' 'Tis easier for a camel to pass through the eye of a needle than for a rich woman/man to enter the Kindom of Heaven?' "
