I have empathy for Geoff's position. Because he wrote a best seller, a portion of his readership expects him to guide and comfort them through the valley of the shadow of death. I believe he takes those expectations too seriously, and in an attempt to help them, goes beyond his depth and fumbles in the process. As a doctor, you're subjected to the same pressures but have learned the limitations of your art and don't hold out false promise to those seeking miracle cures. Geoff might well read the recent letter from Peter Lynch and see how a seasoned "guru" handles himself during a crisis.

Once Dr. Moore gets his feet back under him I'll bet he writes another wonderful book. And I'll buy it. Then I'll pick out the parts I like and incorporate them into my personal g&k strategy book, and chuck the rest. Just like I did last time.
