VoiceGenie Ranked No. 1 in CT Labs' Independent Review of Leading VoiceXML Hosted Solutions

TORONTO, Oct 4, 2001 /PRNewswire via COMTEX/ -- VoiceGenie Technologies Inc., the leading provider of VoiceXML Gateway solutions, announces it has placed first(1) in CT Labs' comprehensive analysis and comparison of competing VoiceXML hosted platforms. CT Labs is an independent computer telephony product testing and certification lab, working under contract for CommWeb to perform functionality and performance tests on selected vendors who provided VoiceXML-based hosted services.

VoiceGenie received the highest overall score in the test series conducted in July 2001, involving three leading VoiceXML hosted platforms: VoiceGenie, HeyAnita, and InfoSpace. Although more than 30 vendors who claim to offer VoiceXML solutions were offered the opportunity to be tested by CT Labs, VoiceGenie, HeyAnita, and InfoSpace were the first vendors willing to submit their technology to the rigorous testing. The VoiceGenie VoiceXML hosted solution, GenieHosting, led in a variety of key areas including VoiceXML support, voice recognition and DTMF, and on-line help and user guides. Also of significance, VoiceGenie's platform required the least CPU and memory resources, with the other vendors requiring two and four times the resources to perform the same operations.

The summary report stated, "Overall, CT Labs found the VoiceGenie Hosted service to be a comprehensive solution that gave very good VoiceXML 1.0 support, useful developer tools and good server performance...VoiceGenie also offers a variety of optional services that complement the hosted offering, including application development assistance, turnkey packages, and backend integration."

"We are particularly pleased with these results: as one of the few vendors to immediately respond to the CT Labs call for VoiceXML platforms testing, the product that ranked best overall actually represents an earlier version of VoiceGenie's hosted solution," said Stuart Berkowitz, VoiceGenie President & CEO. "Since the time of this analysis, we have announced and shipped extensive upgrades and enhancements to our solution that further accelerate performance, while offering new capabilities unique in the marketplace. It is also important to note that this ranking comprises hosted solutions only; our flagship product is, in fact, our on-premises solution, and is yet to be tested by CT Labs. VoiceGenie never shies away from the opportunity to put its technology to the test against its peers, and we look forward to future competitions to show off the rich and evolving feature-set of our VoiceXML Gateway."

Some of the key technical differentiators integral to VoiceGenie's VoiceXML Gateway which CT Labs did not test include: the total number of speech engines and text-to-speech engines supported by the platform, call control capability, remote dialing, audio playback, cookies, speaker verification, SNMP support, billing support, detailed logging, error reporting details, barge-in confidence scores, call analysis support, infinite loop detection, platform pooling, built-in grammars, and local storage for audio/grammars.

VoiceGenie's carrier-grade VoiceXML Gateway is a robust, extensible and scalable platform that adapts to the evolving and growing needs of its customers. The VoiceGenie OA&M (Operations, Administration, & Maintenance) Suite, engineered for large-scale deployment and integral to the Gateway, allows carriers and enterprises to significantly reduce lifecycle costs and simplify deployment of voice-driven applications and services. Customers may choose best in class speech recognition, and are assured open, 100% VoiceXML compliant solutions. GenieHosting service is based on VoiceGenie's leading VoiceXML Gateway solution.
