To All, Yesterday, 98 pct. of American investors did not know the name of the Japanese leader. Today, they do. It is MUD. -g- Actually, that was just a shot across the bow of the US. Misinterpreted, my patootie. The Japanese are letting our politicos know who their financial masters are. They don't intend to kill the hen that lays the golden eggs, at least not yet. They just want Americans to know who controls the hen house and how our prodigal ways won't allow us to be as high-handed as we have been lately in trade and other talks.
DRAM down. Again. Boring. The most expensive 16 Mbit chips are now at $6.50, just about where they were when the DRAM scam started. And the Korean dumping hearing should be over in July. Then we will hear wailing and gnashing of teeth. New 64 Mbit capacity coming on this summer in Taiwan, Texas, and South Carolina. Better capacity, more Mbits from die shrinks and more efficient lines, are coming on stream everywhere. Meanwhile, demand continues to wallow and the migration to 32 MB boxes in the home has never happened. MU is on its last legs, fundamentally, though very high in stock price.
G-Tech is no longer on my radar screen as a potential buy. The details of their lobbying operation in Texas and the spending to get favored treatment is going to weigh against their lottery license in the state. And Texas represents 15 pct. of revenues and more of profits for GTK. Also, the scandal may hurt GTK in other states.
Human Genome cut its ties to the institute where they did much of their research in the past. Going by statements from both organizations, it is no big deal. But it sounds fishy to me and I plan to put on the Sherlock Holmes gear and take a look in detail as soon as I can round up some spies. -g-
