How does it stack up against FDR's attempt at court packing, or decision to intern Japanese- Americans? Truman's playing footsie with the Pendergast machine in Kansas City? How about Jack Kennedy's decision to allow the Bay of Pigs operation to go forward without promised air support? People make mistakes.
