SteveG: How did you manage to get all this straight in your head? I still don't have it together yet!! I think every company calls "single-pair ala 2-wires" something different just to confuse the issue. Pairgain's "US West" implementation uses their "Single-pair" HDSL solution, that runs at 784kbps. If you want to run voice over that single-pair, you will be able to have ~700kbps data rate. I'm not sure that Pairgains "single-pair" is a proven product, but the 2B1Q method is a proven line-code. I wasn't aware that the 784kbps solution could range over 12,000ft. Also, can I use my existing telephone with the Pairgain SDSL product or will I need that Ethernet phone? Does Pairgain actually say that their SDSL product can range upto 36kft? The distance problem with CAP and DMT is solved with partnerships like DSC/WSTL and LU/WSTL... ie. the Digital Loop Carrier "DSC".

Thanks for the update on HDSL-2... this is a new one... I hope to discuss it once I get a better understand of the product... until later.

PS. I purchased Pairgain for their "two-pair-HDSL" products and I'm hoping that a few other RBOC's will like their "single-pair-HDSL"/SDSL solution.
