Marynell,

Gold is global. Many companies are non-US. I don't think they can do it. If they try, it will show their weakness. Other countries will rush to gold.

But if you are really afraid this can happen, buy non-US companies (buy canadian instead) and have your physical gold out of the country (buy GoldGrams).
