There are just too many variables. If all you wanted to do on your computer was to play Quake III in some esoteric mode, the program may utilize some performance characteristics of one processor that is different than some program that does video editing and utiliezs the performance characteristics of another processor. Voice to text, database intensive applications, and so on - may require different capabilities of the entire computer or system. In any case, that is what keeps all those writers, editors, and PR specialists at all those PC magazines employed. Each week, or month, dozens of articles appear in PC magazines compaing one systme to another. Mary
