Sun Micro to host morning call, won't say why
PALO ALTO, Calif., Oct 4 (Reuters) - Network computer maker Sun Microsystems Inc.(NasdaqNM:SUNW - news) will hold a conference call on Friday morning, but the company declined to say why.
Sun, which Wall Street sees as a prime candidate to warn that its September ending quarter did not meet earlier expectations, following bad news by other computer makers, said in a statement it would hold the call at 9:30 a.m. EDT.
A spokeswoman declined to give the reason or say which executives would speak.
Analysts have cut Sun forecasts for its first quarter, ended in September, to an expected 1-7 cent loss per share, before special items, on sales of $3.3 billion. Last year it reported a 15 cent per share profit on sales of $5.0 billion in the quarter, Thomson Financial/First Call reported.
A number of other computer and systems makers have said the Sept. 11 hijacking attacks hurt sales at a crucial point for business. Sun shares closed up 29 cents at $9.29 on the Nasdaq on Thursday. |
