COMPX gap opened at 1602, then sold off to the high close at 1580 from yesterday. Index then climbed to fill the gap at 1650. Index came within 8 points at the 1650 gap, so I consider this filled. We got a follow through day today which is the first in a while. COMPX is rising on a neutral EPC so this is good as there are enough cautious traders to indicate more upside.

We had some rotation into second tier names today indicating the follow through is broadening .... FNSR, MCDT, SONS, ONIS

Dell confirmed guidance today adding more weigh to CSCO assertion that the invertory issues are over and demand is starting to stablize. MCDT also re-affirmed after the close. Revenue will actually come in higher than expected. Margins look like they may be higher also, due to higher sales of high margin products. Of note is they did not raise the EPS range. I have never heard one of their conference calls, so I have no idea whether they are being conservative. Look for follow through rally by BRCD, EMLX and QLGC. VRTS may also rally as increase switches usually means more equipment to manage via software.

I don't like the fact the financial are not participating. After 9 interest rate cuts they should be doing better. The DOW does not rally for long without them.

It is interesting stock that have not really participated in this rally:

ADCT, ALA, BKHM, DITC, GLW, LU, MONI, MTZ, QCOM

GLW warned today, but the rest have no news.

Market Outlook
The Buying Game
By:Adam Martin
After struggling to remain positive for much of the session, the DJIA finished in the red as traders sold off into what was a second day of rallying. Dell fired trader enthusiasm with word that the company is standing by its third quarter estimates, and the tech sector is surging ahead of blue chip stocks with the Nasdaq finishing with some modest gains. Although cautiously pointing out that a third of the fiscal quarter remains ahead, Dell maintain's its current situation points towards continuing success. There's growing sentiment among analysts that the worst could be behind us, but others are more cautious, pointing out that although this would be the second consecutive day of rallying, the market has yet to stand on its own without some good earnings or economic news to prop up prices, and that sustained recovery in the markets will require something tangible for traders to believe in.
