Tom: The UN has on several occasions sought to condemn Israeli aggression, to call it racist, etc. It was not merely Muslim states consenting to this but Warsaw Pact members, who simply went along because of our alliance with Israel.

Gaining the sanction of the UN would likely embolden Israel's enemies towards more aggression, with more countries supportive. The odds of Israel being extinguished would increase.

I abbreviated too much with the first post and apparently did not provide enough detail to suit your disagreement with my understanding of the events. As I do not have a ready source of past proposed resolutions of the UN, no, I have no links.
