Your friend was 100% right.

In the near term, the insurance companies need to sell stocks from their vast investment holdings to pay the claims. And they will increase rates. On the longer term, the new rates will generate higher future profits. :-)

There will be many new ads, how fast they pay the claims, lots of satisfying customers, you are smart and safe if you buy insurance, etc. :-)
