Hi Willcousa,
I'm not involved in Tropian. Sorry, I didn't make it clear why I posted that article.
What caught my eye about it was, Merrill Lynch is the lead investor. ML also invested in Transmeta, but this startup looks more interesting. Anything that has a potential chance of competing with Intel, I like to post it here.
I appreciate the implied compliment that you had thought I founded a semiconductor company, but actually our startup isn't even in the semiconductor business and we do not compete with Intel. In fact, if anything, our stuff drives need for more processing power within corporate, so I hear what chip speeds sites have and what their upgrade plans are. This of course makes me feel confident that corporate is indeed planning on upgrades. Anyone who says they aren't, simply isn't aware of what the possibilities are out there.
On another note, our startup received its first public appearance this week. We didn't have any influence over this event, so it was with incredible surprise to see our technology solution introduced as a high-end solution after the industry spokesperson introduced Microsoft and Cisco's new technology. The event was a technical conference, not a press event, but it was rather breath-taking to hear our startup introduced after MS and Cisco. This was a first for us. These have not been easy times, but I think we have a winner here.
Our startup does not compete with Microsoft or Cisco either,(nor any big player), but rather works in conjunction. And I can say with confidence that Microsoft also has room for some innovation in their OS after XP ships.
