Dear Thread: Let's look at the probable increase in market share for AMD: 1) AMD claims another record quarter CPU unit shipment of over 7.7 million units. 2) The various worldwide unit market estimates are all down from those third parties like Mercury and others. Last estimate I read was for a 17% decline QoQ. 3) Unit market share was 22.2% in Q2 when AMD reported unit sales of 7.7 million units. Calculating WW unit sales in Q2: 7.7m/0.222 = 34.7m. Calculing Q3 WW unit sales: 34.7m * (100 - 17) / 100 = 28.8m Calculating Q3 AMD WW unit market share: 7.7m * 100 / 28.8m = 26.7% That is an increase of at least 4.5%. Not too shabby. Pete
