Not with maximum efficiency, certainly.

Human beings profile constantly. Every time we speak to a stranger or even enter an unfamiliar establishment, we have first gone through a profiling process. Those of our ancestors who didn't learn to profile effectively didn't reproduce.

The process can inconvenience or humiliate those innocents who belong to a group targeted because members of it have been demonstrated to be statistically more likely to be guilty of certain illegal behaviors.

So what do we do about this?

Does anyone here want to make the argument that racial profiling should be eliminated?

I never read anything in the mainstream media except that it is an evil and racist practice.

Is there some moderate, inoffensive but not self-defeating position on this issue that could be articulated?
