Yet there will be some opportunity to buy into them, as well, at least until the end of the year, advises Morgan Stanley.

In a just-released note, the investment banking firm outlined a group of tech stocks believed to offer short-term returns. Its group is "a diversified group of technology stocks that we believe should be well suited to trade especially into market rallies."

Some of the stocks include AOL Time Warner (AOL: news, chart, profile), Yahoo (YHOO: news, chart, profile), FreeMarkets (FMKT: news, chart, profile), Siebel Systems (SEBL: news, chart, profile), Vignette (VIGN: news, chart, profile), VeriSign (VRSN: news, chart, profile), Juniper Networks (JNPR: news, chart, profile), Riverstone (RSTN: news, chart, profile) and Mercury Interactive (MERQ: news, chart, profile).

Morgan Stanley has been the banker behind some of these names.
