William,

INVNs stuff may be the best but unless we get some qualified people to run security it won't matter how good the equipment is.

My point,

Got back to Alaska this morning from a trip to the east coast. Had to overnight in Seattle last night. Up and to the airport 3 1/2 hours early to make sure I get through all the inspection stuff on time.

Get myself and baggage checked in and head to the gate. Long lines. 20 minutes later I get up to the screeners. After traveling all week I have it down. Take belt off, take change out of pockets and walk through. No problems all week long. This lady tells me to carry the belt and change through. OK, whatever so I beep. Step to the side, put my belt and change in a tray. The person with the wand asks me to take my coat off so I lay it on the table with the belt and change. Now I just went through the metal detector and set it off. The person scans me and doesn't find anything so I am sent on my way. No one checked the coat. I could not friggin believe it. There are about 3 uniformed police officers standing about 30 feet inside the secured area so I walk up to one and let him know what just happened. I told him I could have a gun in my coat and no one checked it. He had me go back to a man that was overseeing security at the check point I just came through. So I go tell him the same story and ask him do you want to check it or not. He certainly does and runs it through obviously with no problems or I wouldn't be writing this. (grinning) He asks who allowed this so I indicate the person. I get about a half of an eye roll and he says "thank you very much for letting me know".

Right now security is just for appearance sake. Until they get some qualified people and really believe anyone 'could' be a terrorist it is just all eye wash!
