"(Korean) Demand for mobile phones shifting to 3G models
Domestic demand for mobile phones is shifting towards cdma2000 1x handsets. According to industry data, sales of cdma2000 1x phones as a percentage of total cellular phone sales reached 63 percent or 820,000 units last month, heralding 3G mobile phones' domination of the local market.

Of the cdma2000 1x mobile phone sales, the share of models with a color display rose to 21 percent from 16 percent the previous month.

Market leader Samsung Electronics held a 52.9 percent share, trailed by LG Electronics with 22.9 percent, Motorola with 10 percent and Hyundai Curitel Co. with 3 percent.

"The sales results show that the market is being overtaken by the next generation phones and we expect to see a rising demand for high-speed transmission and color displays," a Samsung official said."
