Jim - unfortunately MBM can't sense temp if the chipset used does not provide the information, and the chipsets used by Compaq and others for Athlon (such as the 7000 series machines I have) do not provide either fan or temp monitoring capability. There is a neat gismo you can buy called digital doctor which monitors up to 8 temp or fan sensors and comes with its own sensors. I used one in a big server I built. It goes in a standard 5 1/4 slot and you can mount a disk or fan in it so the slot is not wasted. see
