pcstel -- I am about to put you back on "ignore," because all I have seen in the past less than 24 hour period of reading a few of your posts is :

endless twisted logic, desperately trying to come up with :

And, THIS (if it ever happens) (and, if it makes any sense at all) ... would be bad for Qualcomm.

Both my wife and I absolutely assume you have "an agenda."

But, we still are not sure exactly what it is ...

I will spend some of my time de-bunking your post that I am responding to, before placing you back on "ignore."

Re :

<<"Just look at Nextel !!

Here was the case everyone was waiting for.. VZ and PCS had deployed CDMA and lowered pricing to a point that Nextel had to stay competitive by lowering pricing also. Nextel realized they would lose the war on a capacity basis ... So they finally yelled "Uncle" and planned a 1X overlay. This was CDMA's crowning achievement. Then they looked at what the commoditization of wireless had done to their business, and decided that the costs of further high cost network improvements might be detrimental to their company's future. So they have opted out for less costly upgrade path to try and increase their wireless voice capacity !">>

My analysis of Nextel --

Nextel will most probably fold in a few years.

They use a technology that does not work too well.

They are depending on Motorola for technological innovation, and ... on-time delivery of that technological innovation.

They are extremely "isolated" regarding the whole issue of roaming, multi-whatever ASIC chips, etc.

They are financially stressed.

The fact that did not go directly to Qualcomm's 1X technology right now just indicates (I think) how financially stressed they are.

Jon.
