Re. <<"large servers" could be Intel based>> While Intel processors have been lashed together in high volume to approach the capabilities of machines based on more capable processors, the number of instances is relatively small. My guess is that there are relatively few Intel-based machines with more than 8 processors. Intel-based systems approaching the power of systems selling above $500K have to represent a insignificant percentage IMHO. I have never seen any data showing the percentage of really powerful systems that are Intel based. The question doesn't seem to arise.
