Honestly HG, the point is much less about what you as a non-Muslim think, but in trying to examine both sides of this issue--what they think. If you were a native Muslim from the Middle East you might very well hold the perception that Americans are indeed violent crusaders.

"Its a different way of life...and parents, societies can choose to ignore it. I do.

Humans,as a species, resist change--particularly at the rate at which it has been occurring in our life time. For people whose recent history was still pre-industrial, I'll bet the rate of change is even more alarming (and threatening).

I could never justify violence as a reaction to the threat of change, but I am struggling, in my own way, to try to put myself in another culture's shoes.
