BTW, I heard that in both the Korean and Vietnam wars, allied soldiers regularly threw away their M1 and Garand in favour of the A. Kalashnikov whenever they could get their hands on it because it uses the same ammo and is less liable to jam. Comments, please!

What is the heaviest calibre rifle you have fired?

I once shot a couple of rounds off a 338. My! It certainly packed a mighty wallop on game and on my shoulder! And I suffered some temporary hearing loss in my right ear! Before that the heaviest calibre rifle I had fired was the 270.
