Actually US made the life of the Kurds more pathetic than it already was, by instigating them, getting them gassed and then pulling out the rug from under them under the guise of "No Military Mandate".

A lot of people talk about Bush Sr not having a mandate to kill Saddam Hussain back then. I wonder if US had the mandate to get involved in the Kurdish conflict, if Bush had the mandate to get the Aspirin factory <or was it a baby milk producing plant> bombed either and whether US had the mandate to invade Panama. And besides, being the strongest in the coalition, how long does it really take for US to get the mandate approved ?

Things can be twisted to suit the situation.

America made a lot of $$s out of that conflict, out of that Gulf War, by rebuilding Kuwait and Saudi, by selling them all those junk missiles and airplanes which were to be destroyed anyway in the post cold war era. US made enough $$s, to make the economy bounce back from the pre war depression. THATS what irks the Arab world. Not the culture, not the religion, but the opportunistic behaviour of US.

All IMHO, of course.
