Diamond H., I agree with you up until now--for voice only--that there is competition to qcom's cdma. That's why i'm so excited about 3g rollouts, particularly in Japan. I lived there four years, and I know how fast the Japanese can/will embrace something new, especially 3g.

That's where the rubber meets the road. Heretofore, the public has been happy with any system that lets them make a call. But when price will be lower for cdma phone calls, when price will be substantially lower for data users, and when additional features will be more abundant on cdma systems, I think you're going to see market share shift, in a big way, fast.

And it's all going to start happening in about six months.

ps: Japanese were introduced to soccer just a few years ago and it took only a year for the whole country to go crazy over it.
