I believe the last time we can claim that a war was fought strictly in the "name of god", was the crusades (or maybe the 100 years war)... Both were incredibly brutal, and CERTAINLY don't reflect any of the teachings of the Bible or Christianity.

No, the last time in Europe (excl. Ireland) was the Thirty Years War, which ended in 1648 with the Peace of Westphalia. That peace, whose motto, if I recall correctly, was "cuius regio, eius religio" (let each [kingdom] take the religion of its king) gave up fight between Protestant and Catholic that had been going on for one hundred years. It was the first major step in the modern separation of church and state.
