Well, not to rub your nose, but I thought "the Tyranny of the Majority" was a
very american saying??
Basically that a majority can use "democracy", as defined by "majority rules" to the
"beat the shxt" out of the minority.
My point with "race" was probably (as that is my understanding and belief as long as
not shown otherwise) that
- tax payments was "the major" mechanism in "us" and "them" until maybe late medieval times
(medieval times and before where, in terms of "race" and last century, extremely tolerant, yes??)
- around 1600 the issue of who to pay taxes to got focused on religion
- around 1800 the issue became an issue of language
- late 1800 an exploding issue of "race"
Although slavery, colonialism had been based on "race" much earlier, but that too more
in terms of paying taxes, as well as salary or wages.

Sorry,it seems, maybe, our view on human history is fairly different?? I thought these
issues, definitions were fairly well known, while maybe not fairly accepted??
(that is, I;m hoping to find the point of "divergence", not easy, maybe??)
One more basic issue, there is a difference between low paid work as slavery, lousy,
onesided contract, and "race based slavery", all basically a question of pay and right,
possibilty to change job. (like needing a pension or "benefits") |
