As for those long range rifles, I suppose the troops who use them are tough guys who don't wince at all when they let off a round. Else they will miss their specific targets by a lot. But I suppose it does not matter much if the target is just a general target in a far-off location----just send bullets over there to hit whatever gets in their way, eh?
