I agree that the Muslim world believes that the US is responsible for 500,000 dead Iraqi children (never mind Saddam's guns & palaces), and for thousands of dead Palestinians (all innocent victims), and that the US is heading a global conspiracy against them (masterminded by International Jewry). This is due largely to the state-controlled media they get their news from.

That's #1.

#2 is: they also believe we're wimps, based on our behavior for the last 20 years.

I don't see what we can do about #1. But if we correct #2, the perceptions of us will change. They do have a great respect for force, I believe. And everybody wants to be on the winning side.

The bottom line is, lots of people in the world don't like US foreign policy in one way or another. But only the Muslim world goes into paroxyms of paranoia and rage and violence about it. Understanding the cause is well and good, but it is more important to teach the Muslim world what they must not do, whether it is the terrorists themselves, or the governments who sponsor them, or just all the voices who mindlessly cheer them on.
