small world, isn't it?

the world is always full of misunderstanding; and the pain of being human means we make up a lot of things to try to reduce that pain - lies we tell ourselves and those who will listen about how others have victimized us.

usually, the people we hate are far enough removed socially or in distance to make our anger moot - we don't act on it, we just fulminate.

but the world is a smaller place now. it means we are in the arabs' faces with our movies and our capitalist pressures; and they in ours, now, with their anger and frustration.

the small world brought aids to us in the 80s. Now it's bringing the world's disaffected to us. So the root cause is not 'this problem' or 'that problem'; not poverty (which is always with us); not education or lack of it, not religion...but the smallness of the world, brought too close for disparate cultures to handle the shock of intimacy.

and we cannot turn the clock back; tho the BL fanatics would like to. isn't it a strange coincidence how hard they are trying to do so
