Well, it may sound weird, but my kids have never used the internet. No one has made a good case for it instead of them using time outside getting dirty. Of course we don't have cable or watch anything else but Public Television selected Blockbuster videos...so some people think we simple minded Luddites.

I'm serious when I say that kids have no reason to be on the internet. They need to have physical interactions with their environment and friends. Yes, some of their friends are glued to their ninetendo games, internet chat rooms, and drink Coke for dinner...but we've made a choice not to participate in all that. Not making a judgement on personal family choices (well, sure I am), I just feel that for kids, it is critical to be part of the HUMAN experience to allow their minds to develop in the way we find beneficial.

When they get older they can make the choices to spend time talking to strangers on internet bulletin boards, drink tequila and watch John Wayne movies.

In the mean time, I shall be Sgt. Stryker.
