Seems to me that Toshiba may be looking at flash memory applications that go beyond substituting for disk drives in industrial, heavy duty computers. Since flash memory draws less current, it is bound to be superior in most any portable computer. Although disk drives typically have a capacity greater than 10 gb, many users get along with older computers that have 2 gb or less.

With CDRW taking more of the archiving duties, even 1 gb can be considered sufficient for many users.
