The table below shows Mexico above Honduras by ONE goal (i.e. GF:GA Mexico is 13:9 (4) Honduras is 17:14 (3)) If history is used as precedent a tie gives Mexico the ticket... so for Honduras this IS A MUST WIN.

fifa.com

From what I have seen so far, I think Honduras is a better team, they easily handled Mexico the first time, but that was before the resurgence of the Mexicans...

That could have been in the recent past. However, I believe Mexico has corrected a number of mistakes, they seem to be much better motivated, certainly today they were. Based on today's performance and playing in Mexico City, I do not see Honduras beating Mexico.

Mexico missed a couple of golden opportunities at the beginning of the game, particularly one in which the Mexican striker (I think it was Blanco but not sure) headed the ball and it got a bad bounce as it the ball was flying little low...

I also believe they got rid of a trainer (don't know the details), which I think it was simply not working for the morale of the team.

You also need to understand that playing the Ticos in their turf is a tough task, for one the weather is a lot hotter than in Mexico City and the Tico fanatics are fierce in their home ground. I believe it was reckless for the Mexican player to have kicked the Tico player without a ball (not to mention stupid)... in addition to the red card he was truly risking a shower of tomatos and worse... -gg- Under normal circumstances, (not today as they really needed the win), a tie with the Ticos in their home stadium would have been a victory, particularly how strong the Tico team looked today.

Mexico also looked strong, they did not appear nervous and they wanted to win, they played the full 90 minutes not giving in an inch. If they played like that against Honduras, Mexico will win the ticket to the WC.

Having said all of the above... Mexico is famous for throwing away "given" games... and at the same time, they are also famous from coming back from the dead as they did today.

We shall see on Nov. 11..... said the blind man.

Edit:

btw... I believe the USA has already qualified see table above
