I am thinking of the squalid conditions our labor force endured and in some cases continues to endure. The same squalor exists elsewhere. That labor was and is paid for. The problem was and is that the rate of pay (referring to both cash, benefits and working conditions) was and in many cases remains woefully inadequate, even criminal. The fact that you're merely getting paid does not mean that you are still not being stolen from. Why else do we call bargains "a steal"?
