vacation in the States.

After the Japanese tourists who were stranded here when the Airlines shut down finally got home, nobody came on the return flights. Waikiki is empty. We are short at least 80% of the scheduled Japanese tourists, and the mainland tourists are down about 30%.

I set on the Waikiki beach by Duke's statue each afternoon, surrounded by bare sand that used to be covered with oiled Asian hardbodies. Our 24 hour Food Pantry market is now 16 hours, the ABC stores have cut their hours, and the Kalakaua hookers are either taking vacations or learning how to proposition in English. This State is has lost at least 1/2 of its 10 Billion a year Tourist Industry, and is heading into depression.
