Syria, like Israel, can put out whatever propaganda it wants. There's usually not a problem with people in the US taking Syrian propaganda too seriously. There was this somewhat dubious thing in the middle '80s, where we bombed the heck out of Libya for the Berlin disco bombing that was known to be primarily due to Syria, but even that probably wasn't due to anybody particularly believing Syria about anything.
