I thought that's what I was addressing. First, I wasn't proposing a "Wyatt Earp" scenario at all. I don't care whether bin Laden dies or not. Well, actually, I do: I would rather see him dead. But not in such a way as to be a martyr for generations of future terrorists to emulate.
And we need identifiable bodies to prove we got him and his lieutenants. We're not dealing with a head of state who can be replaced for purposes of signing surrender documents. This is much more personal.

Second, on the international scene, do you really want the whole world to wind up comparing his ferocity and tenacity to WWII Japan, requiring a nuclear strike to take him out (aside from moral issues, remaining 55 years after Nagasaki)? I'd rather see a well-trained pack of Jack Russell terriors dig into his bunker and drag him out.
