William, Just got off the phone with Hi-Shear Tech.
I don't really know where to begin so I'll start on the commercial side of the business. One of their products is the separators NASA uses to separate the booster tanks on the space shuttle.(the two long side tanks) both have to separate in less than 3/1000 of a sec.. They also supplied the mars vehicles release mechanism which was triggered from earth. They have a product that they sent to the WTC site with fire fighters from Calif. called Life Shears that is a mobile hand operated shears which assist in rescue efforts by being able to cut through re-rod and smaller I-beams. It is all activated with micro explosives as with most of their products. These shears are also used for auto rescues and was introduced in Oklahoma City. The military side starts with satellite separation from it's launch vehicle (missile) and then deploys solar panels ect.. They also have components in the PAC III which is a nuclear interceptor. Before most of the planes where deployed to Afghanistan they where equipped with their recovery sequencers or ejectors. These computers are about the size of a lunch box and are responsible for determining air speed and altitude. They said once a pilot commits to eject it is al automatic from there. If pilot is unconscious the unit releases them from the seat which on impact could cause severe back injuries. They also received another order for these units, unsure of exact number it was mentioned at least one thousand units. They supply mechanical as well as electronic components to missiles. Obviously they went into greater detail.
