That's not what I meant. I mean that there are ways to conduct war which are criminal and ways which are, if not innocent, at least less criminal. Neither has much to do with how harshly we bomb -- it has more to do with the concept of war crimes.

I would add that if 20 people died in Afghanistan last night, it will take nearly a year of nights like that to reach the death toll of Sept. 11. And that death toll would have been three times higher if the two planes had struck the WTC towers within a minute or two of one another.
