I've never been inside a bandsaw mill but I could see in the door when I picked up wood. They sold 16' long bundles of scrap that were 4' across for $10. Leave the bands on and slice off what lengths you wanted. Same as split wood for $10 per cord.

I sold some softwood timber to a pallet maker. One of the loggers helpers only had one arm. The other had been sliced off when a band broke. Said there was no time to move.
