Sometimes a person just gets tired of responding to someone. They request to be not posted to, but the other party can't accept that. Then your inbox gets cluttered up with their messages, and you have to delete them manually. By ignoring the person their message doesn't even show up. IMO putting someone on ignore only signifies that one person doesn't want to spend any more of their time with another.
