Andy the borders were created mostly by the British Empire mostly arbitrary or to compensate some they wanted to. Iraq was given to relatives of the Saud Family as was Jordan for example given to a family from Mecca & Medina. Saddam arrived to power by overthrowing the original ruler.

As to the Kurds at least Northern Iraq will cut it and I hope the Turks will cede some. Iran Syria oh well ??????
